Wave Wifi Mnc1250 Dual Band Wireless Network Controller - WAVMNC1250

The MNC-1250 is a Dual-band 2.4/5Ghz wireless network controller with a built-in SIM slot to access cellular data sources, dual internal access points, gigabyte ports, multi-source failover functionality, and a host of other robust features to complete a vessel’s networking needs. Our MNC-1250 provides full usage exposure while providing the ability to control by source/by login code/or by a user with features to manage accessibility, cap data, limit bandwidth, and blacklist macs and/or URLs from one easy to access browser-based page on any chosen device.

The SIM slot is designed to be universal and works with most SIM cards used throughout the world allowing users the ability to connect to a variety of cellular networks. The ability to easily remove and replace the SIM means that users can choose their own providers based on the locations they travel to, and the availability of service in any given area. For example, in one’s Homeport provider "A" may have the best service and their SIM can be used. When traveling to another state if coverage is better on provider "B" then one of their SIMS can be used. If the vessel leaves the country or is foreign-based, a foreign SIM for example from a Canadian, Bahamian, or Mexican carrier can be acquired and used while in the prospective country. This versatility of coverage and the ability to pay directly for cellular connectivity to the source country instead of relying on roaming agreements are ideal for cruisers.

The MNC 1250 is the most advanced and fastest marine network controller Wave Wi-Fi has developed to date and works well on all sizes and types of vessels.

Maintenance Tips
  • Clean the Device Regularly: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the MNC1250 and remove any dust or debris. Ensure there is no buildup of dirt or grime on the device, especially around vents and ports, as this can lead to overheating or poor performance.
  • Check All Connections: Ensure that all network cables (ethernet, power, etc.) are securely connected. Loose or damaged cables can lead to interruptions in the network and reduced performance.
  • Update Firmware: Check for firmware updates periodically through the Wave Wifi portal. Keeping the firmware updated ensures that the controller operates with the latest features, security patches, and performance optimizations.
  • Reboot the Controller: To keep it functioning smoothly, reboot the controller every few weeks. This helps in refreshing the system and can resolve minor issues or slowdowns.
  • Monitor Wireless Coverage: Regularly assess the performance of your wireless network. If you're experiencing weak signals or dead spots, check the placement of connected access points and adjust the positioning to optimize coverage.
  • Prevent Signal Interference: Position the controller away from electronics or large metal objects that might interfere with the wireless signal, such as microwaves, cordless phones, and thick walls.
  • Secure the Network: Ensure that strong encryption (WPA3 or WPA2) is enabled on the network and that default passwords are changed regularly to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Proper Placement: Place the controller in a well-ventilated, cool, and dry area to prevent overheating. Avoid areas with high temperatures or direct sunlight, as excessive heat can reduce the lifespan of the device.
  • Check Power Supply: Ensure that the controller is connected to a stable power source, preferably with surge protection to safeguard it against power spikes or surges that could cause damage.
  • Perform Regular Network Tests: Periodically test your network’s performance and make adjustments if necessary. Use the MNC1250’s diagnostic tools to assess network health and optimize performance.
